The Strawbale Building Concept has only been around for about 175 years because that is when the first baling machine was invented. In the plains of Nebraksa USA that was the only material available for building houses at the time, so the ball started to roll.

Considering that the concept has been around for such a short time, it is a testament that today there are strawbale houses that are over 100 years old. Now there are strawbale houses everywhere in the world and the idea is taking off. As far as building materials go, it has to be the newest that has been tried compared to most others that have been around for a long time. Building a house out of a material that is normally burnt or used in the vegie patch and the advantages of saving the environment and money in the process should be encouraged in every way.

Yallingup Strawbale Retreat offers you the opportunity to experience this unique building material first hand and hopefully encourage you to consider building one for yourself.
